The art market has its codes, and each artistic movement has its own. Let's create synergies together to push the boundaries..

THE PROJECT

Street Art...

This term, ultimately rather commercial, emerged in the early 2010s with the aim of grouping street artists into a single movement. However, stencil art, graffiti, writing, pop art, installations, collages, and many other forms are all distinct artistic expressions. Each has its own history and techniques. Therefore, grouping them all under the term "street art" can be misleading.

The art market and its various forms primarily trace their origins to "graffiti-writing" (the art of writing one's name). Long considered a form of delinquent art, dangerously close to illegality, it was in New York during the 1970s that this movement began to gain popularity. Self-taught, it stood out by defying the codes of conventional art and gradually spread internationally.

Initially perceived as provocative, graffiti-writing has progressively institutionalized itself and found its place within the contemporary art market. It still exerts a significant influence in visual communication, the arts, fashion, and design.

Darco, who has witnessed the evolution of this artistic movement over decades, wants to give a voice to the talented artists who tirelessly pursue their passion around the world.

The project: to create a platform that aligns with the needs of artists and art enthusiasts. Darco’s mission is to shed light on the history of these graffiti pioneers by finally giving them visibility on the web.

WHO IS DARCO ?

A self-taught artist with over four decades of experience, Darco is part of the first generation of non-New York-based artists from a major artistic movement that influences most of today’s visual expressions.

With his modern approach to calligraphy, Darco works with letters, playing with geometry and 3D to focus purely on aesthetic exploration. An artist with a unique style, his works have been exhibited in some of the world’s most renowned museums.

Recognized as a true advocate for graffiti, he co-founded the group FBI (Fabulous Bom Inability) in 1985, which brought together graffiti artists from around the globe. Thanks to his stylistic originality and the grandeur of his works, the group gained significant recognition and was ultimately included in the Guinness Book of Records in 1996.

Darco is well-versed in the specific codes of this often misunderstood world. His expertise and commitment to defending this artistic movement, which has frequently been criticized, are fundamental assets for this project.
